Question or Problem Statement:
We would like to offer an introductory price of $1 for the first month of the subscription and then once that month is up, offer them our regular price of $39. We'd like it to be a month to month subscription that renews automatically unless the user cancels. We don't want to use a one time charge because when we run reports on one time charges based on the invoice item table it doesn't give us a subscription term which is something we need.
Below are the options that you may consider:
1. Create a Subscription with two Rate Plans: Rate Plan A contains the $1 Charge which is triggered upon Contract Effective Date, while Rate Plan B contains the normal $39 Charge which will be triggered on Service Activation Date. After the fist month, create a Remove Product Amendment to remove the $1 Rate Plan and continue bill the customer with $39;
2. Use the Automated Price Change (Uplift) for Renewed Subscriptions feature: create the Subscription with $1 Rate Plan but set the Price Change on Subscription Renewal option as Percentage Increase of 3800%, when the Subscription got renewed the 2nd month, the Price of the Rate Plan will increase to $39. Please note that before the 3rd month billing starts, you will need to update the PriceIncreasePercentage field on the Rate Plan Charge object into 0. Then the price will not increase from the 3rd month.
