Re: How to create an one-time payment for an account?

Scenario:

We'd like to process an one-time payment for a customer account

Solution:

First, create a Product with a Rate Plan that has only the one-time charge added to it.

- In case you need to process it immediately, e.g. mid-month: If your business model allows having multiple subscriptions per account, you can simply create a new, individual subscription for the customer account in question, and add the newly created Rate Plan with the one-time charge, effective on your chosen date. Afterwards, create a Bill Run for the account and the generated invoice will have the one-time charge, for which you can process a payment. Target date of the Bill Run needs to be on or after the effective date of the subscription.

- In case you don't want to create additional invoices apart from your regular recurring invoices and you do not need to process the payment immediately, simply add the newly created Rate Plan to your subscription, and it will be picked up by the next Bill Run.

- In case this one-time payment would be a pre-payment (e.g. your account's balance is already 0, but your end-customer would like to pay up front for any reason), you can use the process a payment feature on the Customer Account screen (top right). If you don't select (or don't have) an existing invoice when creating the payment record, the paid amount will be stored in the account's Credit Balance, which can be applied to any upcoming balances in the future. Please note, this method requires the Credit Balance tenant setting to be enabled - contact Support if you need the feature enabled.
