How to Export & Unify Rate Plan Charges and Discount Applied Metrics for Net MRR Reporting

  1. Navigate to either the "Reporting" or "Data Sources" UI and leverage the "Rate Plan Charge" Data Source to pull non-discount MRR records
    • Create the following filter:
      • Subscription.Status not in ('Draft','Expired')
    • Key fields to include in the export include:
      • Rate PlanCharge.EffectiveStartDate
      • Rate PlanCharge.EffectiveEndDate
      • RatePlanCharge.MRR
    • If you want only records that are effective as of today, then optionally add the following additional filters:
    • DAM Filter 1.png
  2. Navigate to either the "Reporting" or "Data Sources" UI and leverage the Discount Applied Metrics Data Source to pull discount MRR records
    • Create the following filter:
      • Subscription.Status not in ('Draft','Expired')
    • If you want only records that are effective as of today, then optionally add the following additional filters:
    • DAM Filter 2.png
    • Key fields
      • DiscountAppliedMetrics.StartDate
      • DiscountAppliedMetrics.EndDate
      • DiscountAppliedMetrics.MRR
      • Note: If you want to understand net MRR at a charge level, then leverage the RatePlanCharge.ID field in the Discount Applied Metrics data source.
      • Important note: In the DAM data source, RatePlanCharge.ID indicates the RatePlanCharge that the discount applies to (in contrast to DiscountAppliedMetrics.DiscountRatePlanChargeID, which is the charge ID of the discount charge.)
  3. Union the above two filtered data sources to get a complete picture (gross MRR from RPC, discount MRR from DAM) of MRR for any given account
    • Union the following equivalent fields:
      • Account.AccountNumber (from DAM) with Account.AccountNumber (from RPC)
      • RatePlanCharge.ID (from DAM) with RatePlanCharge.ID (from RPC)
      • DiscountAppliedMetrics.Start Date with RatePlanCharge.EffectiveStartDate
      • DiscountApplied Metrics.EndDate with RatePlanCharge.EndDate
      • DiscountAppliedMetrics.MRR with RatePlanCharge.MRR
  4. Sum MRR (or aggregate per desired output) in the unioned dataset from 3 to answer questions about total Net MRR (for today's Net MRR, make sure to only sum records whose range of start and end dates include today)
