    Dear Zuora Community Members,

I'm excited to share that our Advanced Consumption Billing including Prepaid with Drawdown & Unbilled Usage is now Generally Available.

    Prepaid with Drawdown
This time, we added more flexibility to prepayment charges and the prepaid balance management process:
    • You can top up a one-time or recurring charge anytime, and there is no proration, i.e. even though the validity period is partially starting from the order effective date, the prepaid units and the charge amount are the same as those of a full period.
    • You can remove a charge anytime, cancel a subscription anytime, shrink the term of a subscription to anytime. You will get credit back based on the credit option you select in the prepayment charge. If there are usage drawdown after the effective date, we will reverse the drawdown automatically.
    • You can create a prepayment charge whose first validity period is a partial period, while all the remaining validity periods are whole ones. For example, a 14 months term subscription, with the first validity period 2 months, and the second 12 months. The first 2 month validity period charges the same amount and has the same prepaid units.
    • You can do early renewal easily with the setting under rate plan charge billing day = term start, as the billing cycle day will change automatically to your new term start to give you a full and aligned billing period for the new term.
    • You can get notified when the balance reaches certain value or percentage by setting up threshold notification for prepaid balance.
    • You can recognize the revenue based on the drawdown consumption. (Available end of Aug)
    Unbilled Usage
We delivered a powerful and efficient near real-time rating capability to Zuora Billing so that:
    • You can rate and see the rating result for your usage records immediately, without waiting until the end of a billing period.
    • You can get an rerated unbilled usage amount immediately for any order action change to price or usage quantity.
    • You can do on-demand invoicing for unbilled usage, the unbilled usage amount would be re-calculated and updated according to your billing target date.
    • You can get unbilled usage information through Data Sources & Data Query for your reporting.
    • You can get notified if the unbilled usage rated amount reaches certain value.
    • You can enjoy 2x faster bill runs, and handle 4x the usage volume (25M -> 100M)
