What’s New in Zuora FY25 H1 - Payments Forms and Gateway Routing Q&A

By Lana Lee posted 6 days ago

We recognize the importance of presenting the right payment methods to boost customer conversion rates across various countries and geographies. At our May 2024 What’s New in Zuora webinar, we shared how our new Payment Forms streamline this process, reducing the need to rely on IT.

Additionally we introduced Rules-Based Gateway Routing that enables you to optimize your authorization rates and minimize processing fees by selecting the ideal gateway provider for each transaction.  Gateway routing automatically routes transactions based on pre-configured rules, ensuring best performance and cost efficiency.

Q&A Highlights

  • Payment Forms: Is it possible to define the order of shown payment methods per country? (we have SEPA as #1 Payment Method in Germany for example, but CC in Spain etc.)
The intent is yes. It's not available just yet, though.

  • What would be the difference between this "prepayment" and the "billing in advance"?
Prepayments provide a way to track a balance for what was paid for, and allows for drawdown, as you saw, from multiple services (API and Storage in the demo). This is a consumption way of looking at customer pricing, and it allows the customer to change the prepayment amounts, add top-ups, use rollovers (where unused units continue to the next period). These are just not part of "billing in advance".

  • Payment links - are you planning on adding other payment options, bank transfer, dd, Applepay, Paypal, etc.
Yes, we are swapping out the form that is in place right now to use the new Payment Forms. This will make it so that as soon as a payment method is added to Payment Forms, we'll be able to adopt it instantly with Payment Links as well.

  • Payment links - does it work for bank transfers, cards and direct debits?
Today we support SEPA, ACH and Credit Cards

  • Will payments in HK be supported such as AliPayHK, Payme, WeChat Pay, or FPS [fast payment services, from banks]?
We are working on an integration with AliPay at the moment. They will be added over time.

  • Maybe I missed this, but gateway routing assumes you have a number of gateways to integrate with to enable that routing to whichever makes sense for different commercial agreements?
Yes. It assumes you are working with multiple gateways - and hence a need to optimize operations

  • Would this work with French "Cartes Bancaires"?
Cartes Bancaires is a card scheme which we do support. It would simply fall under the 'card' grouping in the display there.

  • Is Payment Gateway routing available now?
Yes, it is! Please send a ticket to support to enable Payment Gateway Routing.

  • For Payment Pages, any plans to have TWINT available (no. 1 Payment method in Switzerland), available in Adyen?
We don't have this request logged so it's not in the current roadmap. If there is a good case for it, it can be considered.

  • Does this setting supersede the default gateway assigned on the account during payment processing, if a given payment method was not part of the routing snapshot?
This does supersede the default gateways, but we are finishing up a change right now that lets users use 'Use Default Gateway' as a value in the Gateway Assignment shape. This means you can use your current configuration while adding failovers as well. Or if you wanted, you could also implement this flow and then use our 'Update default gateway on success' to create a more dynamic feedback loop which allows the most recent successful gateway to become the first in the chain.

  • Which payment methods are covered by the new hosted payment pages and gateway routing? Considering credit card, direct debit, paypal, etc.
Currently it is only ACH, cards, and Apple Pay. By the end of June, we expect to be at nearly 10.

  • Which fields/attributes/conditions can be used to configure the payment gateway routing rules?
Check out Create and manage Payment Gateway Routing Rules to see the breakdowns and explanations. This is in no way a final version of what we want to offer and I'm very open to feedback and expanding the list.
