On June 18th, Karn Singh, Product Manager of Platform and Workflow shared his best practices for Workflow Observability and Monitoring. In Zuora, we have a few ways observability and monitoring are exposed for Workflow from an overall telemetry perspective to ones that are more granular.  These methods include: the System Health Dashboard, Workflow Overview Tab, and Workflows Tab.

If you missed this session, please see the video and presentation below.

System Health Dashboard Monitors Your Overall System

In Zuora, we have a few ways observability and monitoring are exposed for Workflow. Our newest formatting is through our System Health Dashboards which gives a top-level view of not only Workflow, but also other areas as well so that you can evaluate fluctuations in performance, and filter for specific timeframes, Workflows, etc.  as well as summarized cards to monitor failed tasks, average run time, and more.

Workflow Overview Tab Provides a Summary-Level View

For a more granular view of your Workflow performance, this view makes it easy for you to explore failed Workflows and your queue health.  You also have the ability to search for specific objects using the record finder where you can search for a specific string in business objects that might have been touched in a Workflow.  Finally, run reports by downloading a CSV of monthly task usage for additional Excel work.

Discover Definition-Level Metrics with the Workflows Tab

To see how a specific Workflow is performing, use the Workflows tab where you can evaluate fluctuations in execution count, runtime, etc. as well as gain insights for improving your Workflow design and performance.  This view provides an in-depth view of your Workflow and you can download a CSV for your own reporting.
