Announcement: New Search Engine Coming to the Community
From last year's Subscribed Community Roundtable, we had a lot of feedback about the limitations of the community's search engine; in fact, 90% of people who came upon the Community used Google.
Because of that feedback, we immediately started looking into ways to improve our search and I'm happy to announce that we'll be rolling out a new search engine, SearchUnify, hopefully by the end of this week. The Community team had a look at the search features in our staging environment and it looks great. You'll still be able to take advantage of the community's federated search, but now we'll be optimizing posts (labels, tags, etc.) so that everyone will be able to find relevant content much easier. There'll also be an advanced search feature to help everyone drill down on their search results.
We're working on some last-minute updates before pushing this to production and I'll be giving you all a heads up before we unveil it. Please bookmark or subscribe to this thread as we want to get your feedback for improvements and also challenge all of you to try to break it so that we can understand its limitations (if any!)
Thanks for your patience and please stay tuned.
Also, if you'll be at Subscribed 2018, please stop by our Community sessions during lunch. This year, we've expanded our roundtable sessions to be two interactive sessions in one of the meeting rooms. Let us know what the Community team should be working on next (better curation of ideas? mobile readiness? user dashboard? etc.).
