At our January 12, 2023 Zuora Revenue Workshop, @Nikki Wong, Director of Product Management in Zuora Revenue gave an overview of the new Consumption Revenue Module that is now generally available.
Some highlights on pre-defined performance obligation below followed by the video with more information:
- Consumption - Usage Event (Non-Committed)
- Supports the use case where billing is in arrears and revenue is expected to be accrued before billing.
- Consumption - Usage Event
- Supports the use case where billing in advance and revenue is expected to be recognized after billing.
- Revenue is driven by Usage as Incurred.
- Consumption Ratable without VC upon Booking
- Supports the use case where billing in advance and revenue is expected to be recognized after billing.
- Revenue is expected to be recognized pro-rata over the term of the contract.
- Use cases where Overage is not expected. (without Variable Consideration functionality)
- Consumption Ratable without VC upon Booking
- Supports the use case where billing in advance and revenue is expected to be recognized after billing.
- Revenue is expected to be recognized pro-rata over the term of the contract.
- Use cases where Overage is expected. (With Variable Consideration functionality)
- Consumption PayGo Billing
- Supports the Classic Pay as You Go model where revenue is recognized as Invoice is Incurred.
