    City tax overcalculation in Louisiana
Some Louisiana city tax amounts may need recalculation
    _________________________________________________________

    Hi,

Avalara has identified an issue that caused city taxes to be overcalculated for some accounts in Louisiana between December 29, 2025, and January 7, 2026.

The calculated amounts of city tax may have been higher than expected during that period. This would not have resulted in undercharges, nor are you liable for undercollection penalties with Louisiana tax jurisdictions.

This issue was mitigated on January 7, 2026.

    What you need to do

You will need to recalculate affected  to correct the tax amounts.

You can find transactions in Louisiana on the Transactions page in AvaTax by selecting Louisiana in the Region filter and specifying the start and end dates above.

You can review transactions and recalculate as necessary.

For full instructions see the Knowledge Center article here.

We recognize the importance of accurate tax calculations and appreciate your patience.

If you have any questions, the Avalara team is here to help.
