    Effective February 26, 2025, Avalara will update AvaTax transaction output and reports to align with the latest International Organization for Standardization (ISO) naming standards for the following Canadian provinces and territories:

    • "Yukon Territory" will be updated to "Yukon"
    • "Newfoundland" will be updated to "Newfoundland and Labrador"

    These updates will apply across AvaTax reports and transaction outputs, specifically impacting the following fields:

    • For Yukon (all transaction types): "YUKON TERRITORY" → "YUKON"
    • For Newfoundland (only for EWaste transactions): "NEWFOUNDLAND" → "NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR" (Note: HST transactions already return the ISO-compliant name.)

    If you have downstream dependencies on these jurisdiction names, we recommend updating your internal processes accordingly before the February 26, 2025, implementation date.
