Last week on October 16th, I hosted the very first Zuora Community Chapter at Invoca’s Santa Barbara location with 6 attendees who arrived promptly at 6:00 pm ready to engage in all topics Zuora! It was a diverse group representing some of the largest technology companies in the Santa Barbara area: Procore, Appfolio, LogicMonitor and Invoca.

At our inaugural meeting, we applied Lean Coffee where attending members built the agenda, and began the discussion. For 3 minutes, we create topics to discuss and group them together e.g. ‘Orders’ or ‘Dunning’. We then discussed and shared on that topic for about 3 minutes each, and once the topic was generally exhausted, we moved onto the next topic.
Invoca Meeting Area
Our Lean Coffee session was really productive in the 60 minutes we time-boxed with 6 discussed themes and an additional 6 themes we’d like to talk more about at future events.
Discussed topics that we may explore further:
Order / Amendment subscriptions
Localization and Multi-Entity
Parent / Child as well as Partner hierarchies
Suggested topics for future meetups:
CPQ - Lessons learned
Collection / Dunning best practices
Selling Zuora to the CFO - Cost model and business benefit
Before wrapping up the meetup, we decided to
Meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday,
Have members to present on a topic: “Solutions and Learnings”
Request Zuora to attend and present best practices, e.g. ‘Order/Amendment subscriptions’ and ‘Localization and Multi-entity’.
At the end of the event, we all agreed that the Chapter Meetup was valuable and we’re excited to meet again next month.

PML - Zuora's account management structure isn't geography based, but rather it's based on specific customer cohorts (which could happen to be regional), so that the right account managers are matched with the right customers based on things like needs, size, scale, and support so that Zuora can best support based on need, rather than grouping only by geography. We will continue to assess how we can deliver best-in-class customer account management and support.
