How to add a user with read-only access to RevPro?

Question:

How can I add a new user with the read-only access to RevPro?

Answer:

RevPro uses role-based access control (RBAC) to restrict system access to authorized users. First, you create a role in the system and grant appropriate permissions for this role. In this case, you need to create a role with read-only access. Then, you create a user for an individual and assign the read-only role to this user.

If there is no role with the read-only access in the system, complete the following steps to create the role and then create the new user:

  1. Log in to RevPro with system administrator access.
  2. Navigate to Setups > Security.
  3. On the Roles page, click the New Role icon (+) to add a role.
  4. In the New Role window, specify the role name and toggle the Read Only switch to Yes.create-new-role.png
  5. Click the disk icon to save the setting. The new role is created. By default, this role has read-only access to all the menu options.
  6. (Optional): To restrict the role from accessing any particular menu option, click the Role Privileges tab. Drill down to the target menu option and click the Revoke icon (X) on the line.
  7. Close the Edit Role window.
  8. To create a user, open the side menu and click Users.
  9. On the Users page, click the New User icon (+).
  10. In the New User window, provide the required information in the User tab and click the disk icon to save it. The new user is created.
  11. In the Edit User window, click the Role Assignment tab.
  12. Click the green plus icon to add a row.
  13. In the Role Name column, select the read-only role that you just created.
  14. In the Active From column, specify the date when the role assignment is effective.
  15. Click the disk icon to save the setting and then close the window.role-assignment.png

If there is already a read-only role in the system, complete the following steps to add a new user to this role.

  1. Log in to RevPro with system administrator access.
  2. Navigate to Setups > Security.
  3. Open the side menu and click Users.
  4. On the Users page, click the New User icon (+).
  5. In the New User window, provide the required information in the User tab and click the disk icon to save it. The new user is created.
  6. In the Edit User window, click the Role Assignment tab.
  7. Click the green plus icon to add a row.
  8. In the Role Name column, select the read-only role that you just created.
  9. In the Active From column, specify the date when the role assignment is effective.
  10. Click the disk icon to save the setting and then close the window.role-assignment.png

After the user logs in to RevPro, he/she can access the menu options that are

available for the read-only role. For more information about managing user access in RevPro, check the RevPro Knowledge Center.
