Cannot send a quote to Zuora because Subscription Number is already in used.

When sending a quote to Zuora, I got the follow error.

 

The subscription number XXXXXXX is already in use. Please enter another subscription number.;

 

How do I resolve this error?

The error indicates that a new subscription cannot be created in Zuora because there is an existing subscription with the same name in Zuora.  The issue usually happens in the following scenarios.

 

  1. In your Default Value Settings page, Subscription Name = 'Opportunity Name'
    • Using this setting, each opportunity must have one New Subscription quote only, and all opportunities must have a unique name since opportunity name is used as subscription name.  When neither condition is true, the error will occur.
  2. In your Default Value Settings page, Subscription Name = 'Quote Name'
    • Using this setting, all New Subscription quotes must have a unique name since quote name is used as subscription name.  Otherwise, the error will occur.

 

If you have Subscription Name = 'Auto-number' and still run into this issue, please reach out to Zuora Support for further help fixing the issue.
