The subscriptions that are not renewed ( either manual or auto) on the renewal due date should be marked as 'expired' once the renewal due date is past.

Currently, it continues to be displayed as 'Active' which is misleading.

Status: Unlikely

We will be adding this capability, but it will not be coming within the next few quarters.

Current functionality with Subscription Amendments in the UI is that only a single Product Rate Plan can be Added / Edited / Removed per Subscription Amendment. This results in multiple amendments to start, amend, or end a subscription when multiple rate plans are being processed together. It would be very useful to be able to Select Multiple Specific / All when Remove Product amendment is selected, and be able to add / edit multiple rate plans per New Product / Update Product amendment.

The problem we are facing is that--today--our only mechanism for adding new products (and rate plans, charges) and updating products/rate plans/charges is through the UI. This can be prone to human error as each entry must be keyed in separately and manually. We will be adding and updating Products/rate plans/charges at an increasing frequency and manual keyed entries will not scale.
We would like a bulk update tool that is usable by a business/non-technical user.
Without diving too deeply into a solution, I believe we would be well served by having a simple tool that accepted, validated, and set up new and updated items through some upload process--for example of a comma-separated value file--with manual steps only to verify the data to be added/updated. This could be through the UI or a RESTful API.
Another possible solution could be more of a "grid-view" into the products/rate plans/charges that allow for multiple data entries on a single pane of view, but this may not be effective for certain use cases.

Upgrade / Downgrade Amendment

Status: Coming Soon

Create a new amendment type of "Upgrade" or "Downgrade" that combines a Remove Product and New Product amendment.  This would be more convenient than trying to figure out if the two amendments (Remove + New) are related and what direction (Up or Down) the change is going.

Currently, we use delta MRR to see if it's an upgrade (positive MRR) or downgrade (negative MRR).  But there are some cases where the delta MRR is 0, but from a product standpoint, it may be an upgrade or downgrade.

Thanks for reading!

Ability to combine / merge subscriptions

Status: Unlikely
by Honor Student sbradley on ‎02-26-2016 07:30 AM

We are just coming into Zuora, and we have many scenarios where our customers may have multiple products with multiple different renewal dates.  This is translating into multiple subscriptions as we get them loaded into the system.

Going forward, our reps would love to be able to combine and co-terminate these subscriptions to make things simpler for our customers where possible, but at the moment we're telling them that they have to manually transfer all of the lines from the old subscriptions to the new subscriptions because there is no capacity to join these together.

This would be a great help for us, and I'm sure for many other new customers coming on to the Zuora platform!

Improvements to Product Catalog UI

Status: Under Consideration
by Community Manager on ‎01-13-2016 11:27 AM - last edited on ‎01-22-2016 05:05 PM by Zuora Moderator

Feature Request:

The client has reported the following quirks in the Zuora UI. They are not show-stoppers, rather quality of life issues that make "managing the Zuora product catalog an unpleasant experience".

When viewing the product catalog, the List View only shows 6 items at a time unless you click the Expanded View tab and then move back to the list view tab, then it shows 25 items. Why can't it show 25 items by default?

Proposed Solution - Make the product catalog via show 25 items by default

After selecting a catalog view, if you then select an item in the catalog and then select ‰Û¡ÌÝÌ back to Product Catalog List‰Û¡ÌÝå , you are not brought back to the view you left, but are instead brought back to the default catalog view. This makes managing the product catalog maddening when you have lots of products, especially when combined with the next item.

Proposed Solution - Selecting "back to Product Catalog List" should take users to the previous view, not the default view

When selecting a catalog view, it takes two clicks (4 if you count clicking between expanded and list views) to get to the view. You must first expand the items under Base/Addon/Misc, and then select Current underneath. It would be much better to just select (for instance) Base Products and be shown all the active base products.

Proposed Solution - When selecting a catalog view, users should be able to just select, for instance, Base Products and all active base products should be shown. The number of clicks should be reduced.

It would be helpful to us if we could define additional product categories. For now we are just dumping all the categories not supported under misc, but it would be better if we could define new categories and have them show up under Catalog Views. This would make it much easier to manage things like hardware, setup fees, etc.

Proposed Solution - Users can create custom product categories

Option to have Fixed Amount Discounts Prorate on early cancellation

Feature Request: Option to have Fixed Amount Discounts Prorate on early cancellation

Reference Number: DE5560 / PMT-650

Business Need: Currently if you have a Fixed Amount Discount on a subscription which is canceled early, items on the subscription other than the discount item prorate, but the discount does not. Some customers would like an option or setting that makes a fixed amount discount to behave like a flat fee item and prorate upon early cancellation just like a non-discount item.

Currently contracted MRR shows amount without discount and doesn't consider discount sku amount. It should be amount after applying discount.

In the following example it is showing 10,080/12=  840 however, it should be really 10,080-2,580= 7,500/12 = 625. Please look into this !

Charge multipliers

Status: Under Consideration
by Community Manager on ‎01-13-2016 11:27 AM - last edited on ‎01-28-2016 10:30 AM by Zuora Moderator

It would be great if Zuora could allow the ability for one charge to affect another. Perhaps Zuora could develop a Charge model which multiplies price of tiers in another charge based on the quantity of units purchased in the multiplier charge. This is a current challenge we have at the business I'm working with at the moment.

Charge A

  • charge model: Volume pricing
  • Tier A: 1-10 £10
  • Tier B: 11-20 £11
  • charge name: Magic Software Suite
  • default quantity: 11
  • UOM: Users

Charge B

  • Charge model: Multiplier tier charge
  • Tier A: 1 - 5: 5%
  • Tier B: 6 - 10: 4%
  • UOM: "Support Cover Points"
  • Product Rate Plan Charge ID: Charge A
  • (perhaps this can be applied to Rate Plan Charge Level, Rate Plan Level, Subscription Level in the same way discount charge model works?)

In this example, the Quantity of Support Cover Points in Charge B multiply the charges generated by Charge A by the chosen flat fee percentage.

Ability to merge accounts

Status: Under Consideration
by Community Manager on ‎01-13-2016 11:27 AM - last edited on ‎01-28-2016 11:50 AM by Zuora Moderator

Use case: Looking for a feature that will merge two accounts into one.  Customer have had a couple of customers who purchased subscriptions, using their personal emails. Some time later, after the first subscription expired, their work or family member purchased another subscription for them, using their second email. So now, they are contacting us, saying "I would just like to use my personal email address to login and use my subscription".

Since they are using internal user IDs in our system, as account number, they cannot change it (as it is not possible in our system). So they customer is stuck with two separate accounts now. They are just hoping to consolidate the two.

Work around to consider: Making the account 1 (personal email) the invoice owner of all the subscriptions created for account 2 (second email). I suggested this as a work around since I am assuming that all the data except for subscription(s) will be the same for the two accounts so moving forward, all invoices that will be created for account 2 will just go to account 1.

However, DE8261/BIL-2981 is created so that we can enhance our application that will have an ability to merge accounts into one. This is currently being review by our Product Management.

Today when coupons are applied, MRR is not affected.

We'd like this ability to choose whether a recurring discount affects MRR or not.

Update Product One-Time Charge

Status: Unlikely
by Valued Scholar bsanders on ‎12-07-2016 08:19 AM

In current UI functionality if a One-Time rate plan charge has been added to a subscription but not yet billed, there is no way to Amend the value of the One Time Fee. The Update Product amendment will not allow you to change either the price or quantity. While I can understand this if it was already invoiced, not being able to update an unbilled One-Time fee is a real issue. The only workaround i have been able to find is to remove the product and add it back again, requiring two amendments (Remove Product and New Product) instead of one (Update Product).

Please place all subscription amendments in a table showing the date of the amendment and the amendment name. This would make locating a specific amendment considerably easier than the current layout.

Add Align to Billing Term Option

Status: New Idea
by Scholar jbrown on ‎09-15-2016 03:27 AM

The Billing Period Alignment options allow for "Align to Charge" and "Align to Term."  However, if you want all of your recurring charges to invoice on the same schedule, no matter what the renewal term or billing term, there is no setting.

We use "Align to Term" now and if customers have matching Billing Period and Renewal Term (Monthly billing and 1 month Renewal, for example), a mid-term change will generate a prorated invoice for the remainder of the month and then pick up all charges at the next billing period.  This works great.  But when we have a customer that has Quarterly billing period and monthly renewals for example, a mid-term change misaligns those same charges with the same settings.  Since charges are configured by Billing Frequency, we only have the ability to configure our Quarterly charge with one option.  So changes for this customer are manual every time.

Per Shawn (shawn.seath@solarwinds.com):

In Zuora when we preview a subscription, it appears to always starts at the (original) Subscription Start Date, which can result in more than 1 full year of months that already occurred prior to the most recent renewal. So, we have to scroll down to the latest renewal date and review the impact of our most recent amendment there. Instead, it would be better if this screen would just show the months starting with the Subscription Term Start Date, which we believe bumps up to the current year when each year‰Û¡ÌÝå»s renewal is done, right?

For an example - https://www.zuora.com/apps/CustomerAccount.do?method=view&id=2c92a0fb495a5b1b01495e3852343f71

On this subscription, you will see its original subscription (Contract Effective Date) starts October 1, 2014. Since it was renewed for 10/1/15-10/1/16, it would be better if the preview started with October 2015 and went forward to the Term End Date, so we would no longer have to scroll through their old (unchanged, already billed) invoices.

Issue: Currently, OriginalID and CancelledDate fields not returned via GET "https://rest.zuora.com/v1/subscriptions/accounts/{account-key}"

The customer can use the CRUD call, but they are trying to reduce the number of round trips and complexity of getting all the subscription information. Right now if a user has several subscriptions they need to loop through and get the two additional fields of data for each subscription, if this information could just be returned with "https://rest.zuora.com/v1/subscriptions/accounts/{account-key}" it would reduce complexity.

1. Summary of the enhancement
It would be great to be able to preview and create a subscription with an initial QTY for usage based charges.

2. What is the business problem?
Trying to preview and create a subscription with a tiered pricing charge model with an initial QTY that is chosen by the customer. The customer should be able to see what his charges will be based on the different values chosen for QTY. Basically the same as the preview subscription ui where you can change the QTY.

3. What is the business impact?
We cannot create the product with a tiered pricing model which seems to be the correct way, so we have to do a lot of extra back-end coding to get it to work as expected.

4. What is the proposed solution?
Add a Usage object to the SubscriptionData object, which will be displayed when previewed, and then it gives the ability to create a subscription with any initial usage.

On the account screen when you click on View All for Subscriptions this list should include the Subscription/Product Name.

Currently this is missing, making it difficult to distinguish/pick the correct the subscription.

This should be easy as these names already exist on the table visible from the account screen.

Display the current term of a subscription version

Status: Under Consideration
by Community Manager ‎01-13-2016 11:27 AM - edited ‎01-20-2016 12:49 PM

Feature Request: Users would like Zuora to display the "current term" (number of months) information. Right now, the "initial term" and "renewal term" information are available but the initial term is based on the information from the actual initial term, not based on the current term.

Clarification: Each subscription has an Initial Term and Renewal Term field (under the Basic Information section of the subscription). Normally, users would consider these fields as the subscription version's "current" term and the next renewal term. However, this is not accurate. The Initial Term field in the subscription always refers to the original Initial Term before any subscription renewals have occurred. This causes a misunderstanding to the users in this scenario:

  • Subscription version 1 has an Initial Term = 6 months, a Renewal Term = 12 months, and subscription contract effective date = January 1, 2011. The initial term is January 1, 2011 through June 30, 2011.
  • The subscription has been renewed for one term, so now the current term is from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012. With this renewal, the subscription is now on version 2.  The Current Term = 12 months and the Renewal Term = 12 months.
  • When we look at the subscription version 2, we still see that Initial term = 6 months.  This is because this field is still referred to the original term, not the current term.

Reference Number: DE7872 / PMT-633

Business Need: Users may need to know the subscription version's current term and it cannot be found in Zuora.

Subscription Clone Feature

It would be very helpful for our team to have the option to Clone an existing subscription in the user interface.  Ideally it would create a new subscription for that account with all the same rate plans and products assigned to it as the original, having it prompt only for a new contract/activation date.
