Why can't I edit the "Notes" field in my invoice?

Answer: The "Notes" field can only be edited by invoices in "Draft" status.

 

To edit the "Notes" field, please follow the below steps:

 

#1.Click "More" button (upper right).
#2.Choose "Edit Invoice".
#3. Input comments under "Invoice Comments (Displayed to Customer)"
#4. Click the "Save" button.

The Notes field on an Invoice is intended to be "Notes to the customer" that can be merged onto the invoice template. Because of this they are considered part of the document and cannot be changed after it is posted.

 

We created a custom field "Internal Notes" on the Invoice (and several other objects) that allow us to capture simple internal notes when necessary. The custom field can be modified at any point in the Invoice lifecycle.
