Product charges start in year 2, how to configure this?

We are rolling out a new product suite and one of the products we are setting up does not start being charged until 1 year after they go live.

Based on the charge structure, what fields at the charge level can be used to help defer this charge until the start of year 2?

Product Rate Plan Charge fields:

  • Charge Type - Recurring (as it needs to be charged annually after year 1)
  • Charge Model - Flat fee as rate remains consistent
  • Charge Trigger - Service Activation (Thought about Upon a Specific Date, but always needs to be 1 year after service activation)

Is there a way to achieve this in the existing charge fields or what is a good way to achieve this?

Hi @billdavis ,

Let me move this to our Billing and Payments forum so that the right experts can investigate.

Thanks,

The simplest way of doing this is by creating a parallel negative charge for 1 year which should bound to end by 1 period, but this comes as a separate charge within the same rate plan.

Re: Product charges start in year 2, how to configure this?

If we create a negative charge to 'balance' the charge we wish to suppress in the first year, how could we hide the charge from appearing in the guided selling steps?

If we do this, then the end-user will see the 2 charges appearing on the quote and could incorrectly adjust the pricing and/or discount that exists.

The concept is good, and if we had a way to hide certain charges from guided selling, this would work well, but we cannot.
