Workaround: Deactivate the gateway, edit the gateway name, save and then reactive the gateway.

Re: How can I change the name of an existing payment gateway?
@AmyLee would that break the link in the payment for refund purposes? For example, after the gateway name is changed then a refund could not be processed against a payment executed under the prior gateway name?

Re: How can I change the name of an existing payment gateway?
Yes you are correct. When renaming the payment gateways, this must be taken into account. Changing the name may break external integrations, as this field is a unique external identifier for this gateway configuration.
Please also note that if you have changed credential information of the gateway, you may not be able to make transactions such as refund or void on payments previously made with this gateway.
