What is the API Call Threshold?

QUESTION:

According to https://knowledgecenter.zuora.com/BC_Developers/SOAP_API/E_SOAP_API_Calls we have a 10-minute rate limiting to make API calls.

But it does not explain how the 10-minute time window is calculated.

Does Zuora counts API calls from, for example, 3:00 to 3:10?

Or is it always calculated for the last 10 minutes?

Re: What is the API Call Threshold?

SOLUTION:

The 10 minute window would begin from when you make the API call i.e. create().

In regards to the 10 minute limit coupled with the threshold, the numbers cited, 8000/10-minute in this case for create() API is more-or-less a minimum upper ceiling where the customer is free from potential rate limiting.

After this value, rate limiting might kick in depending on our processing availability.

Since Zuora maintains multiple application processing instances for our APIs, the limits are there as a minimum value when only one instance is available.

This is a worst-case scenario when/if there's a rolling restart of our application where only one processing instance is available.

The majority of the time, multiple instances are available so the rate they might be able to achieve may be higher than the stated rate in the Knowledge Centre.
