Number Formatting CSV Export Issue

When exporting any report that has a numerical field more than 15-digits, the spreasheet is changing the values, adding zeroes at the end or abridging them with E+##.

Re: Number Formatting CSV Export Issue

This is actually an Excel issue and not Zuora Reporting.

Per Excel documentation: "...Excel numbers are limited to 15 digits of precision..." which is why these particular figures are converting to mathematical calculations. We have no control how Excel is reformatting the longer string of numbers.

This is confirmed when you open the CSV file as a text file, you can see that the field is being exported correctly.

As a workaround, here are steps you can take to fix this issue:

1) Save the export but do not open the file in Excel. Use the Text program (Windows = 'Text', Mac = 'Text Edit') to open the file.

2) Open a blank Excel spreadsheet, highlight all cells, and format all cells as TEXT.

3) Go back to your open file from step 1, highlight all data and COPY ALL.

4) Then go back to your spreadsheet from step 2 and use PASTE SPECIAL as TEXT.

This will allow all data from the text file to paste into the spreadsheet with no formatting issues.
