"The username already exists. Please use a different username" error

When trying to create a new user in the Sandbox or Production environment, the following error is thrown:

 

The username 'your@username.com' already exists. Please use a different username.

 Note: your@username.com is an example username used. Replace it with the username that you are trying to create.

This error message indicates that in all of Zuora's provisioned Sandbox/Production environments, there already exists a user with the username you are trying to create..

 

Usernames are unique, so you can't use the same username not only on a Tenant level, but also on an environment level i.e Sandbox and Production.

 

So for example, if you have a username zuora@zuora.com then you can create this username in your Sandbox and Production environment.

Thereafter, the username becomes taken, and any other organization is not able to use this username for their tenant.
