On August 13th, we held a Revenue Table Talk that highlighted the advantages for using Zuora ERP connectors, particularly NetSuite. These connectors streamline financial operations by automating data ingestion and synchronization, significantly reducing the manual effort and time associated with revenue accounting. We closed the session with OneID, a user identity and access management platform for Zuora applications and how it relates to Zuora Revenue.

Manual revenue recognition is fraught with challenges. It's slow, error-prone, and costly. The time it takes to close financial reports is prolonged and manual processes require more IT support and hours, and data management becomes increasingly complex. These inefficiencies not only delay financial reporting but also elevate the risk of financial errors and increase IT costs. It's clear that a manual approach is no longer viable in today's fast-paced business environment.

When it comes to revenue recognition, you have a few options:

  • Maintain the status quo and manually recognize revenue, which leads to delays and inefficiencies.
  • Assign IT resources to automate revenue recognition, but this strains your IT team and increases costs.
  • Partner to build a custom connector, which requires significant IT resources and ongoing maintenance.
  • Utilize Zuora’s suite of pre-built connectors. These connectors provide seamless integration with major ERP platforms, quick implementation, and reduced IT burden.

Zuora ERP Connectors are purpose-built, native integrations designed to work seamlessly with major ERPs like Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, and Workday, with future plans to support Oracle Fusion Cloud and SAP. These connectors offer faster time to value, reducing integration time from days to just minutes. Our low code/no code integration setup can be completed in as little as one hour, eliminating the need for extensive IT involvement. This not only minimizes errors but also simplifies the entire revenue recognition process.

Our connectors are designed to maximize data efficiency by automating the ingestion and updates for business critical transactions. This ensures financial data consistency and synchronization across your systems, allowing you to go live faster with reporting. By automating these processes, we reduce the need for human touchpoints, significantly lowering the risk of manual errors and processing times.

Overview of Zuora Revenue Connectors

Why Transition to Zuora OneID?

    1. Access all Zuora products with your federated ID
Managing your Zuora credentials, especially having to remember them and juggle logins across different environments and resetting your password every two months, is likely one of your least favorite tasks when it comes to accessing Zuora applications.

Now with Zuora OneID, you can access any Zuora applications including Billing, Revenue and Zephr, just with your work email or federate ID.

    2. Simplified user provisioning with Groups
Creating user accounts in Zuora applications and ensuring that they are given the appropriate level of access can be a meticulous task, especially when onboarding a large number of users to Zuora applications can be time-consuming, and making sure that every user has assigned with right access across all roles and environments

Now with Zuora OneID, user roles and user groups, it is possible to assign the appropriate access levels for multiple applications to a large number of users simultaneously. To modify a user's access level, simply remove them from their current group and assign them to a different one in OneID. You can also check the access permissions of all users at any time in Zuora OneID.

    3. Onboard and Offboard Users Seamlessly
Managing user accounts across multiple Zuora environments can be a laborious task for admins, which increases the likelihood of errors and exposes them to potential risks. Offboarding ex-employees across all Zuora applications can be a time-consuming and labor-intensive process that involves recalling their access privileges and manually revoking them.

Now with Zuora OneID, offboarding former employees is now a simple one-click process. By deactivating their Zuora OneID account, their access to all Zuora applications will be removed.

    4. Automate provisioning with SCIM APIs
Managing access permissions for a large number of users can be a frustrating task without the user management API. This is especially true when attempting to synchronize your access management tool with Zuora in order to automate your user provisioning workflow from your IAM tool.

Now with Zuora OneID, by utilizing the OneID SCIM APIs, you can automate the process of user provisioning by integrating your IAM tool with Zuora. This enables you to securely create, update, provide access to, and deactivate user profiles in Zuora directly from your IAM or any other external tool using the SCIM APIs.

    5. Aggregated data for Audit & Compliance
For auditing and compliance purposes, checking and downloading reports on user permissions and activation status for each Zuora application can be a time-consuming process that requires a lot of manual effort. Additionally, consolidating these reports can also take a significant amount of time.

Now with Zuora OneID, with the Users SCIM API, you can get the aggregated data of all the users across every Zuora applications.

    6. User Management Reports
Export global user management reports from OneID, for all of your user accounts in your organization across all the tenants along with their access and role details.

    7. Switch Between Tenants Seamlessly
Switch between multiple environments seamlessly w/o navigating back to OneID.

    8. Assign Tenant Access Centrally
You can now assign tenant access directly to the users, instead of adding them to the Groups. Direct tenant assignment works best for assigning temporary tenant access for the users or the users who need to access just one tenant and you couldn’t fit them to the Group.

Key points to understand of how OneID onboarding for Revenue tenants:

  • The minimum version of Revenue for One ID onboarding is 37.017.5.0
  • All the users of the tenant would be transitioned to One Zuora, there is no partial/granular way of onboarding only few users. It is all users of the tenant
  • The existing login URL will no longer be active. So users CANNOT login using the current login URL. The URL would be changed to one-sandbox.zuora.com for sandbox tenant and one.zuora.com for PROD tenant
  • There is no roll-back/reverting the One ID , after Revenue tenant is onboarded
  • There is a new feature called App Switcher at the top left which shows the tenants to navigate one Revenue tenant to other. Only those tenants that User has access to, will be visible in the App Switcher.
  • For OTR customers, Zuora strongly recommends to onboard both Billing and Revenue tenants
  • Currently Zuora OneID doesn’t support onboarding for API users (either Billing or Revenue). The existing API users will continue to function in the same way currently.
